Josh Fiori put up the most strikeouts he's had since back in February on Wednesday. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Escalon is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

Fiori's effort led Escalon over Hilmar and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Escalon will be headed into this one with a sizable disadvantage in the rankings (they're ranked 213 places lower in California), but they're not letting that get them down.
