Basketball Recap: Bruce Falls Despite Big Games from Ankavious Glass and Markeevis Gladney

Bruce managed to keep up with North Pontotoc until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Bruce Trojans came up short against the North Pontotoc Vikings, falling 72-48. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 69-60 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

Bruce's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Markeevis Gladney, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 19 points, and Ankavious Glass, who posted seven points in addition to ten rebounds and four steals. What's more, Glass also racked up three blocks, the most he's had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jermaine Jackson, who had four points.

This is the second loss in a row for Bruce and nudges their season record down to 1-11. As for North Pontotoc, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bruce will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Nettleton at 8:03 a.m. on December 30th. As for North Pontotoc, they and Hatley will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. North Pontotoc is facing Hatley at the right time seeing as Hatley is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
