Basketball Recap: Fort Calhoun's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Fort Calhoun entered their matchup against West Point-Beemer on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The game between the Fort Calhoun Pioneers and the West Point-Beemer Cadets didn't end well, with the Fort Calhoun Pioneers falling 56-37. The contest marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the loss, Fort Calhoun saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Raeann Massey posted 14 points and six rebounds. Massey is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jovi Greiner, who put up six points.

It was another big night for Allie Kaup, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards for West Point-Beemer. Mia Hunke was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

Fort Calhoun's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2. As for West Point-Beemer, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Calhoun will venture away from home to face off against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Fort Calhoun surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Point-Beemer, they are taking a road trip to challenge Bancroft-Rosalie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
