Basketball Recap: Muncie Burris Comes Up Short

After flying high against GEO Next Generation on Friday, Muncie Burris came back down to earth. The Owls were beaten by the Yorktown Tigers 77-31 on Saturday. The Owls were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

Muncie Burris' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Malachi Smith, who posted eight points, and Lincoln Frost, who put up eight points.

Zach Davis had an outrageously good game for Yorktown as he went 7-for-8 to rack up 17 points. What's more, Davis also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mason Trammell, who shot 56% from the field en route to 14 points.

Muncie Burris now has a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Muncie Burris will square off against Randolph Southern at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Yorktown, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Delta at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
