Football Recap: Kearny Falls Despite Big Games from Makai Nguyen and Jaylen Hill + How To Watch

Kearny fought the good fight in their overtime game against Morse on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 20-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Komets, who fell 28-25 when the teams last met back in September of 2019.

Kearny's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaylen Hill, who rushed for 122 yards on only 14 carries, and Makai Nguyen, who rushed for 91 yards and one score. Hill's longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Brendan Duncan helped out on the ground, rushing for 91 yards.

Kearny's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Morse, the victory also got them back to even at 3-3.

Kearny and Morse will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Komets are set to challenge their familiar foe Canyon Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Morse will face off against rival Crawford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
