Basketball Recap: William Blount Governors vs. West Rebels
The William Blount Governors can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They blew past West 57-6 on the road. The win was just what William Blount needed coming off of a 70-49 loss in their prior contest.
William Blount got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Savannah Darnell out in front who scored 15 points. Darnell has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Cassie Swett was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 12 rebounds and six steals.
William Blount's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-14. As for West, they dropped their record down to 0-16 with that loss, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season.
William Blount and the Red Rebels will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for West, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hardin Valley Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Rebels in Tennessee (the Hawks are ranked 61st, while the Rebels are ranked 343rd).
