Football Recap: Lexington Senior Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lexington Senior hadn't done well against Ledford recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Yellowjackets came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 29-17. For the Yellowjackets, this counts as revenge for the 52-6 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2019.

Among those leading the charge was Colin Weeks, who picked up 62 receiving yards and one TD, and also punched in a pair of touchdowns on the ground. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Gary Vinson was another key player, rushing for 65 yards and one score on only nine carries.

Lexington Senior didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Ledford to a completion percentage of just 20%. The Yellowjackets have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.59 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.59 in their last three games.

Despite the defeat, Ledford saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dominique Arthur rushed for 196 yards and one touchdown.

The win (which was Lexington Senior's third in a row) raised their record to 6-4. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.0 points on average over those games. As for Ledford, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Lexington Senior has already played their next matchup, a 24-22 loss against West Stanly on the 7th. As for Ledford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 28-20 defeat against Clinton on the 7th.
