Baseball Game Preview: Urban Blues vs. Willits Wolverines

The Urban Blues will face off against the Willits Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Urban is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over St. Vincent de Paul. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blues.

Urban got a big performance out of Tim Chan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Declan O'Connor, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Willits let Tomales stack eight runs on them in the third inning on Saturday but luckily Willits prevailed anyway. The Wolverines skirted past the Braves 14-13. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Jakoby Kirby made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Kirby was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Grady Cooley was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ryan Carter, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Willits' victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Urban, their win bumped their record up to 16-7.
