Basketball Recap: Land O' Lakes Takes a Loss

Land O' Lakes lost against Berkeley Prep last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Land O' Lakes Gators took a 52-37 bruising from the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers.

Despite the loss, Land O' Lakes saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jessi Saffold posted 14 points along with five boards and five steals. Saffold is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least five every time she's taken the court this season. Julia Foster was another key player, putting up seven points and 11 rebounds.

Berkeley Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madeline Dean, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Grace Strain, who had 17 points and six rebounds.

Land O' Lakes has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for Berkeley Prep, their record now sits at 3-6.

Land O' Lakes wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 39-32 defeat against Gaither on the 3rd. As for Berkeley Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-26 loss against Sunlake on the 3rd.
