Baseball Recap: Bremen Takes a Loss

Kennedy hit Bremen with a seven-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Braves came up short against the Crusaders, falling 11-3. The Braves just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Jon Olivera and Jaime Martinez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Olivera went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run, while Martinez went 1-for-2 with three RBI. Olivera is becoming a predictor of Bremen's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 4-10 when he doesn't).

Bremen's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Kennedy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Bremen will venture away from home to challenge Hillcrest at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Kennedy, they will head out on the road to face off against Hancock at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Crusaders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
