Baseball Recap: Muncie Central Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Muncie Central and Daleville, and Daleville kept the tradition alive. The Bearcats fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 9-8 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bearcats of the 9-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Logan Campbell and Gage Emberton did some serious damage despite the final result: Campbell scored three runs while going 1-for-4, while Emberton went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Rodney Dabney, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Muncie Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Daleville, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Muncie Central will head out to challenge Winchester Community at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Daleville, they will venture away from home to face off against Elwood at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
