Soccer Recap: Avery County Takes a Loss

If Avery County was riding high fresh off their 7-0 takedown of North Wilkes last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Avery County Vikings lost 6-2 to the NCSSM: Morganton Dragons on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Caitlin Shapiro and Lily Flores scored both of Avery County's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Avery County now has a losing record of 2-3. As for NCSSM: Morganton, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Avery County has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Draughn on the 12th. As for NCSSM: Morganton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, a 3-3 draw against Mountain Heritage on the 12th.
