Basketball Recap: Independence Falls Despite Big Games from Taniya Dickerson and Gabrielle Green

Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 45-25 to the East Mecklenburg Eagles. The Patriots were down 39-19 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Independence's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gabrielle Green, who posted seven points and eight rebounds, and Taniya Dickerson, who scored three points and 13 boards.

Samariah Freeman had a dynamite game for East Mecklenburg, putting up 17 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Ava Stallings was another key player, posting four points and six boards.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 1-21. As for East Mecklenburg, they pushed their record up to 7-15 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Independence has already played their next match, a 61-24 loss against Rocky River on the 11th. As for East Mecklenburg, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-60 defeat against Charlotte Catholic on the 11th.
