The Ann Sobrato Bulldogs will head out to take on the North Monterey County Condors at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Monterey County took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Ann Sobrato, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Ann Sobrato had just enough and edged out San Mateo 8-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
Sam Zimmerman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Zimmerman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Amato was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Bouton, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
Ann Sobrato kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Mateo only managed six hits.
Meanwhile, North Monterey County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against San Lorenzo Valley, falling 19-4.
North Monterey County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josslyn Gutierrez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Another was Jazzlyn Paniagua, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Ann Sobrato's record is now 2-0. As for North Monterey County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Ann Sobrato came up short against North Monterey County when the teams last played back in April of 2022, falling 4-1. Can Ann Sobrato avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
