Recap: Boquet Valley Griffins vs. Seton Catholic Central Knights
The Boquet Valley Griffins can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They breezed by Seton Catholic Central on the road to the tune of 52-23. The score was close at the half, but Boquet Valley pulled away in the second half with 37 points.
Leading Boquet Valley to victory were Maddox Rice and Carson Leibeck. Rice scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four blocks, while Leibeck scored 18 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Leibeck has scored all season. Bode Buehler was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Seton Catholic Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aiden Pearl. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and 25 rebounds. That was a full 52.2% of Seton Catholic Central's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Evan Waldron, who scored four points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Seton Catholic Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boquet Valley only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Boquet Valley pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Seton Catholic Central, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Boquet Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Peru at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Peru will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 687th, while Boquet Valley is ranked 256th). As for Seton Catholic Central, they will head out on the road to take on Keene Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keene Central will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
