Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Comes Up Short

Roosevelt and Torres squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Roosevelt had to settle for second. They fell 9-5 to the Toros. Surprisingly, this marked the Rough Riders' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Brian Roberson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Roosevelt is 9-1 when Roberson posts two or more runs, but 6-11-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Manny Molano, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 15-12-1. As for Torres, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-17.

Roosevelt does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Torres, they will take on Minarets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Toros surely won't give up without a fight.
