Soccer Game Preview: Metea Valley vs. West Aurora

The Metea Valley Mustangs will face off against the West Aurora Blackhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Metea Valley's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Metea Valley managed to slip by Naperville Central the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Mustangs came up short against the Redhawks on Tuesday, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Metea Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Naperville Central are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, West Aurora made sure to put some goals up on the board against Bartlett on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-2 victory over the Hawks.

West Aurora has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those five matches. As for Metea Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.
