Volleyball Game Preview: Merritt Island Christian Cougars vs. Melbourne Bulldogs + How To Watch

The Merritt Island Christian Cougars will challenge the Melbourne Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Merritt Island Christian and Calvary Chapel Academy had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Cougars fell 3-1 to the Eagles on Thursday.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Calvary Chapel Academy scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 18-25, 25-22, 25-20.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Melbourne, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Sebastian River on Thursday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Sharks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 28-26, 25-22.

Merritt Island Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Melbourne, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.

Merritt Island Christian couldn't quite get it done against Melbourne in their previous meeting back in September of 2023 as they fell 3-1. Thankfully for the Cougars, Nina Ghawi (who had 23 digs and two assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
