Basketball Recap: Lebanon Takes a Loss

Lebanon suffered their biggest loss since February 9, 2024 on Friday. They had to suffer through a 79-50 loss at the hands of the Harrison Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Raiders are ranked 34th).

When it comes to explaining why Lebanon lost, don't look at Jack Ferrell. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-10 to rack up 19 points and seven rebounds. Chase Perdue also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Harrison's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malachi King, who shot 69% from the field on his way to 26 points and seven boards. King is becoming a predictor of Harrison's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 15-3 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Ray Gibson was another key player, going 9-for-15 en route to 20 points and four steals.

Lebanon's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points over those games. As for Harrison, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Lebanon has already played their next matchup, a 73-61 loss against Guerin Catholic on the 5th. As for Harrison, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-51 victory against Lafayette Jefferson on the 7th.
