Recap: Charles J. Colgan Sharks vs. Gar-Field Red Wolves
The Charles J. Colgan Sharks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 26 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 48-16 victory over Gar-Field on the road. Given Charles J. Colgan's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Gar-Field is ranked 323rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brianna Long was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. The matchup was her 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Barksdale, who scored ten points along with three steals.
The victory got Charles J. Colgan back to even at 6-6. As for Gar-Field, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charles J. Colgan will take on Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freedom is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Gar-Field, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lewis at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
