Volleyball Game Preview: Beech Grove Hornets vs. Pike Red Devils

The Beech Grove Hornets will be taking part in a tournament against the Pike Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Beech Grove took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Martinsville by a score of 3-1.

Beech Grove had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-17.

Beech Grove's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Dakota Barnette, who had seven digs and two aces, and Nathaniel Davis, who had 12 kills, 11 digs, and one block. That's the most digs Davis has posted over his last three contests.

Meanwhile, Pike entered their tilt with Decatur Central on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Hawks.

Pike took Decatur Central into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-18, 25-27, 18-25, 19-17.

Beech Grove now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Pike, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
