Basketball Recap: Rio Rico Comes Up Short

After soaring to 61 points the game before, Rio Rico was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They were beaten by the Cholla Chargers 77-29. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while the Chargers are ranked 58th).

Rio Rico lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Santiago Merino, who posted nine points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Ramsess Bolivar, who scored six points and six rebounds.

Rio Rico is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16. As for Cholla, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
