Softball Recap: Cottondale Extends Winning Streak to Six

With a playoff win on the line, Cottondale rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Poplar Springs Atomics as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The match marked the Hornets' most dominant win of the season.

Cottondale let Kendall Benefield and Aspen Odom run wild. Benefield went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Odom went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most runs Benefield has posted since back in February. Halle Riley was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

The victory (which was Cottondale's sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Poplar Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.

Coming up, Cottondale will take on Sneads at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Poplar Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
