Basketball Preview: Yerba Buena Aztec Warriors vs. James Lick Comets
Yerba Buena and the Comets are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Yerba Buena Aztec Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the James Lick Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Yerba Buena has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Yerba Buena scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top against Overfelt by a score of 71-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Brandon Tran, who scored 39 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Jayden Tran was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Even though James Lick has not done well against the Grizzlies recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. James Lick secured a 62-58 W over the Grizzlies. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Yerba Buena's record is now 4-18. James Lick's record is now 2-20.
Yerba Buena was able to grind out a solid win over the Comets in their previous matchup back in January, winning 52-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Yerba Buena since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
