Port Clinton starts season with win against St. Mary Central Catholic

Port Clinton had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the St. Mary Central Catholic Panthers a 14-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Port Clinton also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Ashton Sanchez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Sanchez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Port Clinton got a massive performance out of Ellie Orris, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jandi Torres, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Clinton will take on Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Mary Central Catholic, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against St. Paul at 5:00 p.m.
