Baseball Recap: Mater Lakes Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Goleman last Wednesday, Mater Lakes Academy came back down to earth. The Bears fell 8-3 to the Hialeah Gardens Gladiators on Tuesday. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gladiators apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2021.

Mater Lakes Academy got a good showing from STEVEN LOPEZ, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. LOPEZ has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Andres Gomez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Mater Lakes Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8-4. As for Hialeah Gardens, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Mater Lakes Academy will venture away from home to challenge Dr. Krop at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lightning will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Hialeah Gardens, they will host Downtown Doral at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gladiators are facing the Dolphins at the right time seeing as the Dolphins are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
