Softball Game Preview: Falkner Eagles vs. Hickory Flat Rebels

The Falkner Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Hickory Flat Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Falkner has given up an average of 13.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Falkner barely beat Tremont the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Falkner was the clear victor by a 17-11 margin over Tremont on Friday. That looming 17-11 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Falkner yet this season.

Emma Mauney was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Kady Duncan, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Falkner kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Hickory Flat was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against West Union, falling 18-0.

Falkner's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-10. As for Hickory Flat, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Everything went Falkner's way against Hickory Flat in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as Falkner made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
