Football Recap: Central City Bison vs. Aurora Huskies
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Central City can now relate to. They came up short against the Aurora Huskies on Friday, falling 42-21. It was the first time this season that the Bison let down their fans at home.
When it comes to explaining why Central City lost, don't look at Parker Zikmund. Despite the final result, he threw for 178 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 92 yards. The Bison's leading receiver Wyatt Dent was Zikmund's top target yet again, picking up 73 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Wyatt Pollet produced another solid effort rushing for 212 yards and one score while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also throwing for 142 yards and three TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes for Aurora. Those 212 rushing yards gave Pollet a new career-high. Aurora also got a significant boost from Ian Jensen, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 83 yards.
Central City suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 8-2. As for Aurora, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Central City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Aurora, they will take on Lakeview on Friday. The Vikings' defense has only allowed 9.2 points per game this season, so the Huskies' offense will have their work cut out for them.
