Basketball Game Preview: Glendora Tartans vs. Ayala Bulldogs

Glendora is 9-1 against Ayala since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Glendora Tartans will head out to take on the Ayala Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Glendora has five straight wins, Ayala has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Ayala better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Glendora really get things going. Glendora blew past Ramona Convent 66-44 on Friday. The Tartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Ronnie Herrmann and Brianna Gomez were among the main playmakers for Glendora as the former dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 boards and the latter went 8 of 17 on her way to 22 points and three steals. Herrmann is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Kamryn Kuo was another key player, putting up eight points.

Glendora smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Ayala lost to Claremont on the road by a 46-27 margin on Saturday. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Glendora has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.7 points. As for Ayala, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Everything came up roses for Glendora against Ayala in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured a 60-25 victory. Will Glendora repeat their success, or does Ayala have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
