The Ponte Vedra Sharks will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Paxon School For Advanced Studies Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ponte Vedra is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Ponte Vedra proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 12) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Nease 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sharks have posted since April 18, 2024.
Aoife Weaver made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Addison Siebenaler was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma Shin, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Ponte Vedra kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Paxon School For Advanced Studies, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Bishop Kenny 11-4 on Thursday. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by seven runs or more this season.
Paxon School For Advanced Studies' win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ponte Vedra, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
