Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Norwich Free Academy

Norwich Free Academy extended their postseason success on Wednesday against Darien. They came out on top against the Blue Wave by a score of 5-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won four contests in a row.

Dakota Bourdon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Autumn Romains, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Sophie Miner was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Norwich Free Academy's record now sits at 19-5. As for Darien, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-6.

Norwich Free Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Blue Wave: the pair will be back at it again later today.
