Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Zayden Edwards and Ja'cari Glover Lead St. Andrew's to Victory

St. Andrew proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 39) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hilton Head Island Seahawks, sneaking past 61-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since January 20, 2024.

St. Andrew's was led to victory by Ja'Cari Glover and Zayden Edwards. Glover dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards, while Edwards posted 18 points and seven assists. Glover is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Miles Cummings, who earned nine points.

St. Andrew's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Hilton Head Island still got an impressive performance from Kyrice Bowman, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Stewart, who put up 14 points.

St. Andrew's record now sits at 13-3. As for Hilton Head Island, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

St. Andrew's will venture away from home to square off against Frederica Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Frederica Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something St. Andrew's surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hilton Head Island, they will welcome May River at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hilton Head Island is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season.
