New Palestine had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They blew past the Greenfield-Central Cougars 7-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Dragons also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Rigg Mahurin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jacob Morris was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Jackson Kamp was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

New Palestine's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Greenfield-Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

New Palestine will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
