Baseball Recap: Marshall Starts Season with Win at Home

Marshall took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Flintridge Prep Wolves with a sharp 7-1 win. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Caleb Thatcher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Thatcher was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Thatcher wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nate Callaway, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Callaway a new career-high in home runs.

Marshall has already played their next game, a 6-1 victory against Verdugo Hills on the 21st. As for Flintridge Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 16-7 loss against Trinity Classical Academy on the 20th.
