Basketball Recap: Indianapolis Washington Falls Short of Northview in the Playoffs

Indianapolis Washington and Northview squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Indianapolis Washington had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Northview Knights 81-43. While losing is never fun, the Continentals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while the Knights are ranked 43rd).

Indianapolis Washington's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was King Mclaurin, who shot 40% from the field on his way to 14 points. Mclaurin continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Roosevelt Franklin, who went 5-for-12 en route to 13 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Avery Perry, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Perry a new career-high in field goal percentage (73%). Another player making a difference was Quinn Lewis, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds.

Indianapolis Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Northview, their victory bumped their record up to 23-2.

Indianapolis Washington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northview, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-40 win against Speedway on the 8th.
