Volleyball Recap: Sienna Gillen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kimball/White Lake over Wessington Springs

Kimball/White Lake was the 3-0 winner over Wessington Springs when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildkats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans on Friday.

While Kimball/White Lake had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 15-25, 25-23, 25-19.

Kimball/White Lake's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sienna Gillen, who had 31 digs. Gillen has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more digs the last three times she's played. Charlee Bass was another key player, getting 13 digs.

Kimball/White Lake has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-22 record this season. As for Wessington Springs, their victory ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 12-16.

Kimball/White Lake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Colome on the 27th. As for Wessington Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Hitchcock-Tulare on the 28th.
