Spring Valley barely beat Ellsworth the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday. That looming 3-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cardinals yet this season.
Spring Valley walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the second set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-12, 25-16.
Katie Matthys paced Spring Valley's offense, picking up 11 kills. Matthys got some help from Addison Nelson and her 32 assists. Riley Zimmerman controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Spring Valley's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 10-6. As for Ellsworth, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.
