Baseball Recap: Ripon Christian Takes a Loss

Ripon Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Escalon Cougars. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Noah DeBruyn made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tyler Wadlow, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Ripon Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Escalon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

While Ripon Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
