Basketball Recap: Cooperstown Skates Past Sauquoit Valley with Ease

Cooperstown put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to the Sauquoit Valley Indians for the full four quarters, racking up a 90-38 win. Fans of the Hawkeyes have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Cooperstown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cooper Bradley, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. What's more, Bradley also racked up four steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Brody Murdock was another key player, going 6 for 14 on his way to 17 points and four steals.

Cooperstown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Cooperstown's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Sauquoit Valley, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cooperstown will host Poland at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Poland has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 173 points over their last three games. Sauquoit Valley and Westmoreland will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
