Basketball Game Preview: Pomeroy Pirates vs. Colton Wildcats

Pomeroy has gone 9-1 against Colton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Pomeroy Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Colton Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, Pomeroy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 47-42 to Garfield-Palouse.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cesar Morfin, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points. Those 14 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyzer Herres, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 11 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Colton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 60-29 loss at the hands of Asotin. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Panthers are ranked 91st).

Colton's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Pomeroy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.

Everything came up roses for Pomeroy against Colton when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 67-17 win. In that contest, Pomeroy amassed a halftime lead of 36-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
