The Niceville Eagles will face off against the Holy Cross Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Niceville took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Hebron Christian by a score of 12-7.
Niceville gave Aahron Geleta the start and clearly made the right call: he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Geleta has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Remington Crum, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Deacon Avery, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Niceville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hebron Christian only posted an OBP of .290.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Holy Cross took on Taylor County on Wednesday. The Cougars walked away with a 19-15 victory over the Cardinals.
Noah Basham made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Holy Cross is undefeated when Basham posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, Tyler Manning was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Daugherty, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
Niceville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Holy Cross, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Niceville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Holy Cross struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
