Baseball Game Preview: Burroughs Burros vs. Hesperia Scorpions

For the second straight game, Burroughs will face off against Hesperia. The Burros will take on the Scorpions at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Burroughs' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Hesperia's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Burroughs will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Hesperia on Tuesday. The Burros blew past the Scorpions 10-1. Considering the Burros have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Burroughs let Colby Bachman and Joaquin Vasquez run wild. Bachman scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Vasquez scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Bachman has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kanon Schiller, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Hesperia's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Burroughs, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.

Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Burroughs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Hesperia struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
