Basketball Recap: Johnson County's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Johnson County hadn't done well against Twiggs County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Johnson County Trojans walked away with a 47-38 win over the Twiggs County Cobras. Winning may never get old, but the Trojans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Johnson County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daezon Devero, who went 7 for 15 en route to 16 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Tayshawn Norris, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds.

Several Cobras players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kamauree Butler, who posted 12 points. Butler continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Daniel Pitts was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Johnson County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Twiggs County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnson County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hancock Central at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hancock Central will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Johnson County surely won't give up without a fight. Twiggs County has already played their next game (against Upson-Lee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
