Basketball Recap: Southwestern Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

If Rising Sun wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Southwestern, they should've done a better job of containing Landon Kidwell. The Southwestern Rebels breezed past the Rising Sun Shiners to the tune of 68-34 on Friday thanks to Kidwell, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (four).

Another player making a difference was Adam Traylor, who went 6-for-7 en route to 12 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played.

Rising Sun's loss came despite strong showings from Dj Williams and Briar Johnson. Williams went 7-for-15 to rack up 18 points, while Johnson posted eight points and eight rebounds. Williams continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Southwestern is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points over those games. As for Rising Sun, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.

Southwestern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-47 victory against Floyd Central on the 15th. As for Rising Sun, they will challenge South Ripley at 7:30 p.m. on February 21st. South Ripley will roll in looking for their 20th straight win, something Rising Sun surely won't give up without a fight.
