Softball Recap: Mahomet-Seymour's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Mahomet-Seymour dropped their record down to 8-12 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 6-1 to the Normal Community Ironmen. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Mahomet-Seymour saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Dyer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Normal Community, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games.

On Normal Community's side, Avery Anderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. Anderson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tatum Yokley, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was McKenna Baughman, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mahomet-Seymour will head out to challenge Mattoon at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs are facing the Greenwave at the right time seeing as the Greenwave are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Normal Community, they will venture away from home to face off against Danville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
