Baseball Game Preview: Panther Creek Catamounts vs. Apex Cougars

Panther Creek is 1-9 against Apex since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Panther Creek Catamounts will host the Apex Cougars at 4:00 p.m.

Panther Creek is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Thursday. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Green Level.

Panther Creek saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chandler McDaniels, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Apex ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Cary 4-2. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Imps: they've now won six in a row.

DANE PURDY looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has become a key player for Apex: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on ADRIAN GONZALEZ, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

Panther Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Apex, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Panther Creek might still be hurting after the 34-1 loss they got from Apex in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Panther Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
