Baseball Recap: Mcfarland Starts off Right with Win over Strathmore

McFarland had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Strathmore Spartans with a sharp 10-4 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their 12-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Alejandro Medina made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Medina was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Eric Perez was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. Derek Felix was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

McFarland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Strathmore only posted an OBP of .318.

McFarland didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-2 draw against Orosi on the 1st. As for Strathmore, they have also already played their next contest, a 19-4 defeat against Mendota on the 28th.
