Baseball Recap: Island Coast Has No Trouble Against Cypress Lake

Island Coast barely beat Cypress Lake the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Island Coast Gators blew past the Cypress Lake Panthers 10-3 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won eight in a row.

Island Coast got a great performance from Ryan Mueller as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Mueller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Isaac Lopez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin Schoolcraft, who went 1-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Island Coast's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Cypress Lake, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Island Coast will square off against Hardee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Island Coast is facing Hardee at the right time seeing as Hardee is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Cypress Lake, they will face off against Charlotte at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Charlotte's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Cypress Lake's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
