Basketball Game Preview: Resurrection Christian Cougars vs. Brush Beetdiggers

Having just played yesterday, the Resurrection Christian Cougars will get right back to it and host the Brush Beetdiggers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Resurrection Christian will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

On Thursday, Resurrection Christian beat Yuma 50-42. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Outlaws are ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Brush came up short against Highland on Tuesday and fell 60-49. The Beetdiggers have struggled against the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Resurrection Christian will need to focus on slowing down Jocelynn Middlemist, one of several Brush players who made an impact when they last played. She posted eight points and 12 rebounds. Middlemist is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last three games she's played. Brisa Aguirre-Garcia was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

Resurrection Christian pushed their record up to 19-1 with the win, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season. As for Brush, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.

Resurrection Christian strolled past Brush when the teams last played on February 4th by a score of 62-45. Does Resurrection Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Brush turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
