Basketball Recap: Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas Takes a Loss

Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas was the 73-68 winner over Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Falcons fell 74-68 to the Pirate on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (57), the Falcons still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas lost, don't look at Jayden Jrue Orpilla. Despite the final result, he posted 27 points in addition to five boards and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Escobedo, who earned 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas' loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Coincidentally, Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas and Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon will both be playing Pahrump Valley the next time they take the court. The Pirate will host the Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Falcons will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
